County fairs are an interesting thing. Sometimes it seems out of place to me that we have the LA County Fair and Orange County Fair amongst our concrete jungle. They are held at locations within an hour of each other (though during different months). And despite being in the midst of a concrete jungle, livestock and agriculture have an outsized role based on the time and real estate dedicated to it. I’m not sure if it is just by tradition or maybe because us SoCal residents long for simpler times in far off places where farmland stretches for miles and miles in every direction.
