Oh, the fatigue!

Oh, the fatigue!

You know all those body transformations that are all over the internet? They are so fun to watch. I find them inspirting. Maybe because one day I hope to be an example of some crazy physical transformation.

The transformation that happens with pregnancy is pretty crazy. It’s been a trip watching the wife’s body transform to what is essentially a vessel for a growing little one!

For several weeks our little girl has been getting stronger and kicking (or bumping/punching/whatever) hard and stronger. It took a while but I was finally able to feel it for myself — or at least through Allie’s stomach.

Just this week, though, Allie noticed that baby actually kicking strong enough to visible move her abdomen. Prior to this you had to just feel where the baby was and hopefully you would feel a fist bump from the inside. But this time, while she was sitting down and resting, she stared at her stomach and it moved. Multiple times. Unfortunatley I wasn’t around, but you can bet an excited mother was more than ready to tell me all about it the next time she saw me.

The fatigue has been one of the bigges things I have noticed. I suppose I can’t complain. She is, obviously, growing a little human being. But it has been surprising how much it has affected her. That was something I never really considered before she got pregnant.

Right now I think I have sympathy fatigue. I just napped for an hour, on a Saturday afternoon. I didn’t really stay up late last night. I didn’t wake up early, either. But I was super tired and we both fell asleep on the couch.

Oh well…
