Journey To Jedi — Part 3 — Staycation in LA, Ocean Fun, and a JW Marriott surprise

As the pregnancy progressed, Allie noticed it was harder and harder to do things she was previously able to easily do. Nevertheless, we continued trying to pack in the fun. In April, Allie and I spent a weekend in DTLA for a staycation. We stayed at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. Both of us had previously visited the hotel’s famous restaurant that rotates 360 degrees for a full view of the city. We had never stayed there, however. I pushed her hard as we walked all over downtown exploring together. Faith stayed at the grandparents.

We spent one day at the beach. We visited the Santa Monica Pier and the 3rd Street Promenade. And, since we were in the area, we stopped at Erin McKenna’s Bakery in Santa Monica where you can find all sorts of allergy-friendly treats. We would never consider ourselves to be “beach people,” but we had a ton of fun and took Faith out to Venice Beach the following weekend for a little fun in the sun.

The month of May brought Mother’s Day. Faith and I surprised Allie by taking her out to Palm Springs for a night. Fortunately, we had some extra points to spare and we stayed at the JW Marriott. The hotel is an awesome place to be for a family. The pools offer hours of fun. They have an arcade. There are also boat rides (paused during COVID).
