Have you ever noticed how salespeople at the mall try to lure you in with statements as you pass by? They try and throw out hooks to entice you to come closer — to step into the trap.
Allison and I were walking around the mall yesterday. We were actually looking for shoes because her work shoes were getting worn out.
As we walked by a cell phone retailer, the young lady at the store front called out right to us, “We have great deals for happy couples.”
Without missing a beat and answered, “I’m not happy” as we continued to walk past her.
I didn’t even look back.
Allison, on the other hand, started laughing and cracking up. Though her laughter was not without two punches to my left arm.
She later said she looked back and saw the salesperson just kind of staring open-mouthed.
And by the way, I am happy.
