Forks over Knives

Recently, my husband and I have been having many discussions about food, health and fitness. Though we both work in the medical field we both feel we could do better and practicing what we preach. We see chronic illnesses every day and fear that we may end up in their seat some day if we don’t pay attention to what we are doing now. Though we don’t eat horribly we also don’t eat well, we are some where in the spectrum of good.

After recently having my gallbladder removed and still having abdominal pain we decided to take an even more drastic approach, LIFESTYLE CHANGE! We watched the documentary “Forks over Knives” and were convinced that you can be vegetarian and still not be eating healthy. I had given up most meat after we met about 2 years ago(he was raised vegetarian) but I still didn’t feel like I was eating as well as I could be. Processed foods, sweeteners, empty carbs, calorie filled drinks, vegetarian processed fake meats( and a bunch of other ingredients I can’t pronounce) filled our cabinets and fridge.

To  add to it all I had started WeightWatchers about 3 months ago and had seen great progress but still felt as if I was not eating the best way possible. I could count my points and still eat those empty carbs and artificial sweeteners, heck I was almost encouraged to as the sweeteners were less points!

I have now taken on the challenge to eat a healthy plant based diet and lose weight on WeightWatchers, and sleep better with CBD! My husband, though he says he is joining willingly, is along for the ride since I shop, cook and prepare all the meals. We know that it will not be an easy journey but one worth taking as we change our lifestyle together. So we raise our forks and toast to change, making better daily decisions.
