Much for what we have been doing recently is trying to find safe, fun, family-friendly activities to do during this pandemic. We recently re-discovered March Field Air Museum. The museum is located in Riverside, CA. In the last few months we have gone to the museum twice.
Our first trip was in the beginning of October 2020. They had just reopened. The indoor section was available to peruse, and guests could interact with many of the exhibits. Sadly, though, the indoor section was only open for a few weeks as the COVID-19 cases have again started climbing — at least here locally. Riverside County has entered into the “purple tier” and because of this the museum shut down its indoor section. Our second visit took place after the restrictions tightened.
During the second visit we could only look at the indoor planes form afar as we walked from the entrance to the doorway leading to the air field where 75% of the planes are displayed. If you have little ones, it would probably be best to wait until the indoor sections open back up. There are interactive things to do that will keep their attention. The planes outside have informational plaques but they are all closed and there are signs that you aren’t supposed to touch the aircraft. As it stands, the museum is probably going to be more fun for older kids and adults who are history buffs and/or fans of military aircraft.
