Episode 41 — Fay Canyon Hike and Jerome, AZ

Our last two days in Arizona involved more “slow” days. No marathon drives. No long, exhausting hikes. We hoped to come back home somewhat refreshed after a week away from home.

The first (of the last two) days involved a leisurely hike through Fay Canyon. This is a simple out-and-back hike that totals around 2 miles. It is mostly flat and Faith was able to do this with minimal problems. She walked the whole thing without complaining too much. She only asked to be picked up once towards the end.

The town of Jerome isn’t very far from Sedona. It once was a booming mine town. Today, it’s a cozy mountain-top, revived ghost-town that offers travelers a relaxing half-day of shopping and sightseeing. Don’t show up too early, though. The restaurants open first. The shops slowly start to wake up a few hours later. Be sure to stop by the Jerome State Historic Park. It’s a good place to learn about the historical context of the interesting town on a hill.
