As of tomorrow, we will have been married for three months. It’s incredible how time flies.
I’m thankful for the moments I do get to spend with Allison. It’s definitely more time than before we were married. But somehow it is never quite enough.
During our first month I had more time off work. I was doing an elective in Radiology. My hours were very nice. But she was catching up on hours after being off work for 2 weeks prior to and after our wedding. She was also putting in her hours at the hospital. It was kind of frustrating for me to be off and yet sit at home alone.
The next two months have been reversed. I have been on in-patient call months. What that means for my schedule is that I have been sleeping at the hospital for an overnight call shift every 4 nights. That’s 25% of my nights at the hospital. Needless to say, the wife isn’t too thrilled about that ratio.
At the end of this month I have a nice stretch of days off. Allison hasn’t figured out for sure if she will be able to have time away, though. But we are hoping. If she does, maybe we can squeeze in a getaway before I disappear into the land of MICU during the month of June.
